sarykum
dune
measuring more than a thousand hectares and 4 thousand steps long, it amazes not only with its scale. It is surprising that the giant sand hill in Dagestan and the
Central Asian deserts are separated by as much as 300 km of the Caspian Sea. And in fact, the dune lives its own life - the local climate is very different
from the surrounding steppes and hills. Sarykum stopped dead hundreds of thousands of years ago, although it should have wandered with
the wind. This piece of desert has become home to a rare Mediterranean turtle and thousands of other species of different animals.
